Houses & Inhabitants 1954

Some years ago I drew up a plan of the Village, with the houses and their occupants in 1954,

which I submitted to the Willoughby Society Archives.

you can veiw it by clicking  here

The Village has changed considerably over the 60+ years since I was a child.

There used to be:

A Village Shop & Post Office

                              A Bakehouse

                            A Village School

                                 7 Farms

                                 A Chapel

                                 3 Pubs

And lot's of open veiws and place's to play

Today where there were once open Fields there are now houses. without going around the Village counting  all of them, I reckon there have been well over 100 house built in the Village in my lifetime. (72yrs ) There was no Coledge Rd, no Magdelene Rd, no Brookes Close, no White Barn Close and only 2 house on the lefthand side of Main Street from the Village Hall to its junction with Moore Lane.
